Back in Five ("BackInFive") is a crowdsourced restroom map for people on the move: drivers, gig workers, runners, and cyclists. It is operated by Limestone Labs LLC, a Texas limited liability company based in Austin, Texas. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the map, and we never sell your data, run ads, or use your data to train AI models.
Today you use Back in Five anonymously: the app generates a random identifier and stores your profile (display name, points, streak) in your device's local storage. We may later add optional sign-in with Google or Apple; if you choose to sign in, your name and email come from that provider and your existing anonymous profile is upgraded in place. This policy will be updated before any such accounts launch.
With your permission, the app reads your device's GPS location to center the map on you and find restrooms nearby. This happens only while you're using the app (foreground), never in the background. Your live location is not sent to or stored on our servers. On mobile, the app requests location permission (approximate and precise); you can decline or revoke it in your device settings and still browse the map.
When you drop a restroom pin, you create public content that is stored on our servers (Cloudflare D1) and shared with all users. A Drop can include: the restroom's coordinates, a name, the place type, cleanliness and overall ratings, access type (and an access code if you provide one), operating hours, best/worst times to go, and notes. Your ratings and reports on a Drop are also public. Each contribution is attributed to your identifier (a random ID while anonymous, or your account if you sign in), so please don't include personal information you don't want shown publicly.
The stops you record on the Track tab are a private journal: they stay on your device and are never uploaded to our servers or placed on the public map. You can delete any log at any time from the Track tab. Restroom and regularity information can be personal, so private logs are private by default and only become public if you explicitly drop a public pin.
We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or tracking cookies.
Back in Five is free. If you choose to support it, donation links open Stripe, Ko-fi, or Buy Me a Coffee in your browser. Those services process any payment under their own privacy policies; we don't receive or store your card details.
Public Drops are user-generated. A location owner can claim a Drop and have it removed from the map, and we honor reasonable takedown requests. To report inaccurate, abusive, or sensitive content, or to request removal of a Drop, email info@limestonelabs.cc.
You can delete your private logs in the app at any time, and signing out clears your local profile from the device. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of public Drops or reports tied to your identifier, email info@limestonelabs.cc with "Privacy Request" in the subject. We aim to respond within 30 days. We may retain public Drops that other users rely on, with your attribution removed where feasible.
Back in Five is a general-audience app intended for users 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this policy as the app evolves (for example, when optional accounts launch). We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
